About

18 Years of Tradition

Getting it’s start in 2001, The Friendly Flamingo Tournament (FFT) is an annual fishing tournament hosted within Everglades National Park. It is an exciting one day event where anglers compete to catch the most combined inches in Tarpon, Snook, Redfish & Seatrout.

The FFT is proud to have raised over $14,000 throughout the tournaments history for the South Florida National Parks Trust. These funds go towards supporting projects that protect and restore the Everglades. A portion of the entry fees are used to help pay for prizes, our awards banquet, and other tournament expenses. Every dollar is returned to the event.

Giving Back

Over the years, we have raised an excess of $14,000 for the South Florida National Parks Trust. These contributions have gone toward programs in Everglades National Park for such projects as:

  • Vegetation restoration at the West Coast Visitors Center.
  • Funding emergency road side assistance tools for park rangers to assist all stranded travelers on park roads.
  • Funding to assist with costs for the public outreach program for the Snake Bight Pilot Pole and Troll Zone implementation.
  • Augment funding for channel marker maintenance in the Florida Bay.
